China-Cambodia hydropower project breaks ground

2024-01-15In a momentous celebration commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Cambodia, the river closure ceremony of the Upper Stung Tatay Hydropower Station took place on November 30 in Cambodia. Prime Minister Hun Manet's presence marked the initiation of this significant construction venture led by Sinomach.
With an impressive 150MW capacity, the hydropower station, slated to begin power generation in 2026, promises to play a pivotal role in flood control, disaster relief, and regional economic development. The collaboration symbolizes the deepening ties between the two countries, showcasing China's technological prowess in hydropower and its commitment to Cambodia's progress.
