Belarus President attends opening ceremony of National Football Stadium built by CMEC

2025-06-30On June 7, the National Football Stadium of Belarus, a project overseen by China IPPR International Engineering Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Sinomach's China Machinery Engineering Corporation, was officially inaugurated. The opening ceremony featured a friendly match between the youth teams of China and Belarus. Among the distinguished guests present were Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Deputy Director General Zhang Jiasheng of the General Administration of Sport of China, and Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan.

In his remarks, President Lukashenko praised the Chinese leadership and partners. He highlighted that the stadium, built with Chinese assistance, combines national characteristics with cutting-edge engineering and stands as the largest and most advanced football stadium in Belarus. Meeting the highest international standards, the facility is now a landmark in Minsk and a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between Belarus and China.
Deputy Director General Zhang Jiasheng noted that the stadium's completion marks a significant milestone in China's technical and economic assistance efforts. He emphasized that it reflects the deep political trust, practical cooperation, and close people-to-people ties between the two nations. He expressed his hope that the stadium would serve as a platform for young athletes from both countries to chase their dreams and further strengthen cultural exchanges.

As a flagship Belt and Road Initiative project, the stadium is located in the industrial zone of Minsk. Spanning 12.43 hectares with a total construction area of 48,000 square meters, it meets both FIFA A-level and UEFA Category 4 standards and offers seating for more than 33,000 spectators.
Equipped with comprehensive facilities and state-of-the-art technologies, the stadium significantly enhances Belarus' national sports infrastructure and its capacity to host major international football tournaments. It stands as a vivid example of Belt and Road cooperation, promoting connectivity in both infrastructure and human exchange.
